I’ll admit, I have jumped on the bandwagon and am totally obsessed with the thought of a impromptu wedding. Honestly, if I were a little more spontaneous I may have considered this for my own wedding.

Anyway, amidst my obsession with these types of affairs, I began thinking how fabulous it would be to get married in Times Square. The bright lights, the crowds of tourists, and the tall buildings create an unforgettable atmosphere for a wedding ceremony. As I began thinking of this idea I came to the conclusion that really, it can in no way happen, unless it is impromptu (or at least appears to be). So, here are my thoughts on a Times Square wedding.

First of all, this wedding has to be done at night. The lights are just too amazing to miss out on.  Right?

Before your wedding day you need to find someone to act as the officiant for your ceremony.  You can hire an officiant if you wish or you could have a family member or close friend become ordained (really the process online is simple)! Once you have an officiant, you also need to decide how many people to include and invite to your ceremony. For obvious reasons this number needs to remain small.

Deciding where in Times Square to actually have your ceremony could be difficult, since there is so much to choose from. However, find your favorite restaurant, billboard, or souvenir shop to get married in front of.

When your wedding day arrives gather somewhere with all of your guests and travel to Times Square together. Can you imagine how cool it would be to see a Bride and Groom and all of their wedding guests on the subway together?

Once in Times Square, surround yourselves with your guests and get married! Really, it would be fabulous.

Oh, and one more thing, don’t forget your marriage license!

Famous New York City Weddings.

November 26, 2010

Being a bride in New York City you already know that weddings here are fabulous but there are a few people who have paved the way for you….

Here, you see Alfred Hitchcock escorting his daughter, Patricia, into St. Patrick’s Cathedral on her wedding day in 1952.

Here, in 1956,  Gloria Vanderbilt poses for a portrait with her new husband Sydney Lumet.

Here, a portrait of Liza Minnelli and David Gest during their wedding in March of 2002. This bride and groom spent 3.5 million dollars on their nuptials-apperently the most expensive celebrity wedding ever. And, yes, that is Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor pictured with Liza and David.

Here, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas cut their gorgeous wedding cake at their reception at The Plaza.

And, of course, this post wouldn’t be complete without the “wedding” of Carrie Bradshaw. Despite the unexpected series of events, Carrie still looks absolutely fabulous and definitely deserves some spotlight!

A New York City Bride.

November 25, 2010

To celebrate the upcoming weekend I leave you with this gorgeous image, from the amazingly talented Christian Oth Studio, that I find incredibly inspiring. I can’t help but smile every time I look at this image and I see how delighted this bride is. I am sure her excitement comes from the anticipation of her wedding day, the fabulous city she has the pleasure of getting married in and of course, the blessing of having found a life long companion. She is a New York City Bride.
