Introducing…Tammy Golson.

December 16, 2010

Written by Tammy Golson of Tammy Golson Events.

Greetings and a big thank you to the ladies at The Wedding Boutique for inviting me to contribute to The New York City Wedding Boutique.

I am a wedding planner, a daughter, a sister, a sister-in-law, (a first time aunt-to-be!) friend, and New Yorker. I love to travel, eat, cook, explore and entertain.

I have over a decade of experience in Manhattan. I make every effort to bring warmth, sincerity, and style to each event I plan and coordinate. My company was born out of my strong desire for interesting food, my love of entertaining, the joy I get from being creative and my passion for weddings and romance.

I earned a degree in hospitality and tourism from the University of Wisconsin–Stout and went on to create a culinary and catering curriculum for a program in Scotland.

In New York City, I have planned events at prominent corporations, private clubs and cultural institutions, including The New York Times, The Penn Club of New York and Lincoln Center. I thrive on the city’s energy, its standards, and its endless gastronomic possibilities.

Social media has served me well and I am thrilled at this opportunity to connect with a wider audience. I welcome your comments and feedback, always and truly appreciate when something I share starts a conversation, ignites comments and fosters reader participation. If you have any questions about planning weddings in New York or about me in general please don’t hesitate to ask. I want to be a valuable resource to you, as you embark on or continue through your wedding planning journey.

I hope you have a delicious and enjoyable long summer weekend. What do you have planned?

Introducing… Jill Ryder.

November 23, 2010

Written by Jill Ryder of Shindig Invitations.

Why I do what I do…

I am a fidget. I can’t sit still. The half hour it would take to have my nails manicured is too much time to keep my fingers idle. I like to…have to… make things with my hands.

As a graphic artist with thirteen years of experience, I’ve designed everything from ads to websites to magazine stories. My first job out of college was designing direct mail. Creating items I would dismiss as junk were they to wind up in my mailbox filled me apathy. I never got the satisfaction I get from making invitations by hand. Tying 500 bows all day may seem tedious to some, but for me it’s utter Zen. Making the decision along with a bride to use hemp twine over grosgrain ribbon on her invitation may not be changing anyone’s life, but it is making at least two women very excited.

When I get an invitation in the mail I get pumped. I love parties – especially weddings. I’ll never understand those “Oh great, another wedding this summer. How many Belgian waffle irons am I going to have to buy?” kind of people. These are the very party poopers I’m trying to influence.

Which is why I approach each new invite I create as an opportunity to impress. After all, how excited is anyone going to get about ivory cardstock and black cursive? Weddings are colorful occasions filled with sentiment and thus they deserve to be announced in a way that will generate true emotion. Working closely with couples to create the perfect wedding invitation is all part of the fun. And the idea that people can find a little treasure among their bills and credit card solicitations gives me a great sense of pride. It’s nice to know that what I do professionally reaches others personally.

Hey there New York City Brides, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I’m Stephanie, the photographer and owner behind Stephanie Reinish Photography!

So what to tell you about myself. I’m a hopeless romantic, I love love! When I see a couple in love strolling around this amazing city, I smile, they make me happy.  Love is why I got into this business.

I came to New York for college and stayed for a boy (of course). We now live happily ever after in Long Island City (just on the other side of the river) with Baxter, our miniature schnauzer and Mambo our cat.

I’ve been a photographer since my grandparents bought be my first camera 15 years ago. I loved freezing that moment that you could never get back.  Since starting my buisness I see things differently, when I’m visiting a new place I see what amazing photography locations there are and how amazing the light is.

Feel free to ask me anything from the best time and location (an hour before sunset) to take picture to my favorite flair of ice cream (mint chocolate chip!). You can email me at hello@stephaniereinish.com and hopefully you’re question will make it onto the blog.

xoxo,
Stephanie

So what brings a Dallas girl to this amazing wedding network in NYC? One simple truth…

{source}

That’s right wedding peeps… I really do love New York City. Having grown up in New England I spent more time in the city than I can remember and it is truly one of those places that is always inspiring. So what a perfect place for a wedding, right?

And I’m one of those lucky vendors who doesn’t have to remain confined to a specific geographic location. How so?

Well, how about a little intro…

My name is Sebrina Schultz and you can see my picture on the Contributors page. I am the mastermind behind the new event design firm, Mismikado Creations.

I love to provide unique design services like invitation suites and custom chandeliers. And of course I plan to let you all in on my latest projects and events. Every event I take on will be personally handled by me and will be tailored to the personalities and interests of my client. And of course seeing that I am blogging here, I love to travel *wink, wink*

So how did I get into this business?

Well, like most wedding vendors, my love affair with all things wedding began when I started planning my own. I’ll admit that was something I did when I was around 5 (yes I was one of “those” girls) but the amazing world of weddings on the web was opened to me early in ’09. And I couldn’t get enough.

I first started with my wedding blog, Mismikado’s Journey Down the Aisle, which I am delighted to say made BrideTide’s list of Top 100 Wedding Blogs (and Twitters) to Follow in 2010. Then, after encouragement from my then fiance and now hubby, the idea of Mismikado Creations was born. What I love best about owning my own wedding business is that I get to regularly make brides happy while using my graphic design experience and creative expertise.

I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful new community on The Wedding Boutique and I hope we can all share and inspire each other to be the best vendors any bride could find.

I’d love to personally hear from you all and please feel free to send me warm wishes while I’m currently enjoying my honeymoon in Boca Del Rio. My honey says hi too!

You can reach me anytime at sebrina{dot}schultz{at}mismikadocreations.com.

Be back next week!
